This was my capstone project for FM 225: Fashion Merchandising at FIT. This course took a comprehensive look at the merchandising environment, including the functions and objectives of the merchandising team and the principles and techniques of today's buyers, planners, product developers, and account executives. The final project was to execute a seasonal plan.
The goal of this project was to act as a buyer, planner, and merchandiser. I chose to buy for the women's sweater department at Barneys New York. I divided my department into classifications, and created assortments at cost to choose from each vendor based on brand research. I allocated my buy to two store locations, and made a planogram where I distributed the buy to individual fixtures. I also developed a pricing and promotional plan based on the Barney's customer. I created individual purchase orders in excel for each vendor, and distributed the classifications across store clusters based on projected sales.
